COVID JOURNAL - JAN 3rd 2022

 3/1/2022

Today is day 3 of the year 2022.

The usual thing got up at 9:30 in morning. Got freshened up but a not so usual thing happened. I had turmeric milk yaks instead of black coffee, all thanks to Corona. Mom made hot idlis with a side of peanut chutney to go with it and accompanied it with meds. Phew.

Later, I consulted the doctor on Practo who suggested me to have a few investigative tests done. Doesn’t that sound like a suspense drama investigative test. So I stepped out of my cocoon to head to a diagnostic centre near by to get the test done, but going out after two days was such a breather. So, after reaching the diagnostic centre, they provided me with a form, which I filled out and handed over to the receptionist. Aaah, wait, let me tell you, I was wearing a surgical mask and surgical gloves. Now let's get back to the receptionist. After taking the form from me, she gave it a glance and saw me as a monster. Well, that feeling was weird. I felt as if I didn’t belong on this face of the earth. Then she instructed me to enter Room 1.I was waiting for my turn, but a lady barged into room 1 before me to get her thyroid test done.

Firstly, I was feeling weird about being treated separately. Secondly, that thyroid lady, phew. But I kept my cool. Then came my turn. As I was heading into the room, the receptionist came behind me and warned the lab technician that I was COVID positive. For God sake, I was wearing a mask and gloves for damn sake. Ah, never mind! The technician took my sample and advised me to opt for home sample pick up. With a question mark on my face, I asked how, to which she replied, and guess what, the response wasn’t surprising to me. She also told me to install an App. and I was like, "Wow, everything is just a damn click away."

Later that afternoon, mom served me lunch. This time it was rice, beans, and a boiled egg. The problem with boiled eggs is that I don't like the taste. It is so bland. After that, I took meds and slept for quite some time.

I woke up and checked my other phone and was shocked. My dad is also COVID positive and he is in Mumbai. That very news shook me to the core. I spoke to him on the phone and asked him to come back to Mom and me. but he refused as he didn’t want to spread it to others on his way to us. With that news, I lost the appetite for dinner, but had to have it for the sake of the meds. After popping those meds, I wrote my blog, did the recording for the podcast, and called it a day. That was one hell of a day, and it was my January 3rd of 2022.

Peace out.
